YOU WERE NOT

You could've been a man
who made me give you blow jobs till i gagged
never asked me if i was okay
rolled away lit a cigarette after sex
made me feel worse than a whore at least they get paid

but you were not

You could've been a man
who got all awkward and offended
when i laughed at my clumsy inexperience
instead of laughing along with me made it
so fun so wonderful so natural so sexy

who pretended that you didn't care
used me over and over just because i was there
kept your mouth shut never had anything to share
never even had the courage to lay your heart bare

You could've been a man
knew how much i hated to be a burden
told me to burden you anyway
with all my worries thoughts hopes fears
let me carry you as my burden in return

who got frightened by the intensity of my feelings
ignored avoided showed your back ran away
instead of looking me straight in my eyes
told me gently firmly you wished you felt the same

i grew to love in time
married and made little babies
with your eyes my mouth your ass my nose
spent the rest of my life with
